Those who were too young to listen to CBS RMT live on the air, how did you get introduced to the shows?? Also, how do you feel that the shows hold up against more "modern" entertainment?

I'm not exactly a "younger" member, but living in Australia I never heard CBS RMT when it was new. In fact between about 1965 and 1995 I had little access to radio drama at all.

When I first started coming across the odd episode of RMT, it was difficult for me to understand why some people were such devotees of the show. The episodes I heard were usually of very poor quality, making it hard to evaluate them.

The better quality episodes available here make it much easier to listen to the show. Compared to most of you, I have heard few episodes, but I am now able to hear them and judge them on their merits.

I was a youngster when these came out and fortunately, i was able to catch allot of them, "covertly" with the radio under my pillow.

however.....
on the subject of todays "radio" or "video" entertainment.....
i think it stinks.
the only tv show left with any quality to it airs its last season this year, BSG.

i have a 35 foot antenna in the back yard i use to receive and transmit radio with. I am an amateur (ham) radio Operator, and i got to tell you there used to be tons of short wave listening to be had years ago.

today.....its all religious mumbo jumbo (i mean no offense to anyone who believes) but there is (to me ) nothing of substance that captivates me like cbsrmt did, and STILL does.

Yeah, there isn't much on shortwave anymore that's for sure. Sign of the times I guess.

I actually started listening to the CBSRMT in 1978 when I lived in Duluth, MN. I would sneak a small AM radio I had to bed under my pillow. It had the one piece ear phone which I kept in my ear that was on the pillow so my mom wouldn't see it. I found the show by accident and was hooked right away. I'm still trying to find the first story I heard. All I remember was a woman being followed in her car and then up to her house on foot. It scared me when I was eleven. I think these stories have held up very well over the years. Much better than the "crap" on TV. I ordered the CBSRMT guide and keep it by my bed to look up episodes that I listen to (I know, NERD!). I also enjoy Suspense and M&J Audio Theater even tho' there are only 19 of those.
