I've started from the beginning, and have listened to about 10 episodes so far. They really bring back the memories from my youth! And, just like when I was a kid, I have trouble staying awake through the show! Not because I find it boring - it's just that I listen to them like I did when I was young, as I went to bed. After 15 minutes or so, I start nodding off. The lights are off, my eyes are closed, and there is something soothing about the bass-y tones of the actors' voices on the show.
But it seems like a tradition to listen as I go to bed. Sometimes it'll take me a few nights to get through one story. Other times, I'll awaken in the morning, and not want to get out of bed - so I'll start listening to the shows. When I listen in the morning, I'll get through about 2 episodes before I drag myself out of bed - but I don't do that often...
Now I start this log mainly to complain about the episode I last listened to: The Resident. A good enough story, but MAN - was the constant meowing of that cat ANNOYING!!! It really ruined the episode for me. Not only was it a bad impression of a cat, but it was way too constant, and it frequently drowned out the voices of the other characters! I wish someone would have turned that actor's mike down or something.
Also, the ending seemed a bit pointless. It doesn't explain the major points in the story. I had an idea of what the ending might be, and the closing narration almost seemed to point in that direction, but it was never actually stated. I'm all for having "open endings," but there should have been more clues surrounding that open ending to give you more options to think about. Instead, it seemed like they just forgot about a major plot point in the story.
More later, I have to rush off...
