[b:c00165c2c6]CBSRMT 750220 - Must Hope Perish [/b:c00165c2c6] - Rebroadcasted 11/13/98
Senator Marvin Hail Prentice (MHP) thinks he’s being communicated with, by the mysterious writer V.K. Krestin (a nom de plume). Is it ESP, thought, mind control, psychic communication??? Or rather perhaps mere coincidence leading to an unlikely love story between a senator and an underground political writer from The Republic of Doriage.
Starring: Hugh Marlowe, Marion Seldes, Ian Martin, Evie Juster, and Robert Dryden. Written by Sam Dann.
Note: Must Hope Perish (MHP)
Good cast... OK story... good sound quality... hosted by H. Brown in my copy.

An undercover detective visits a secluded island in search of a string of deadly pearls. The pearls were imbued with radioactive radium. The pearls were at various times used to slowly kill the unsuspecting recipient. Paul Hecht’s character was undercover looking to acquire the deadly pearls. For you Budweiser fans this copy has bud ads.
Starring: Paul Hecht, Kate Reed, Grace Matthews, and Cort Benson. Written by Elizabeth Pennel.
Very good cast... (Paul Hecht is one of my favorites) good story... classic suspenseful thinking to ones self background music! Good sound quality...

[b:0af92a70e6]The Countess CBSRMT 770526[/b:0af92a70e6] narrated by E.G. Marshall.
Set in 19c Paris, this Balzac tale stars Marion Seldes, Roberta Maxwell, Cort Benson, William Griffith, and Russell Horton. The inside scoop here is great literature adapted to radio! Great cast. Very good story. A woman hiding a secret friendship from her husband... <<hmmm sounds rather wrong doesn't it... >> Well anyway she eventually attracts the attention of her husband the Count. A tale of loves and intrigue... worthy of CBSRMT audience. Your wives and girlfriends will like this one.

[b:e4a0254a79]The Last Orbit CBSRMT 820108 [/b:e4a0254a79]narrated by E.G. Marshall.
I listened to the episode THE LAST ORBIT today at the office while engaged in some of the least pleasant activities a synthesis chemist deals with.
The show stars Larry Haines as a Shuttle astronaut who is about to retire after his last mission. He is visited by an alien being who has ideas about how his retirement will go.
The show may seem a little far fetched at times, clearly borrowing from some basic science ficion elements which by modern day standards seem cliche, but hey this is the Mystery Theatre and it was written more than 20 years ago! :D
It is also interesting to see how the writer (Douglass Dempsey. Dempsy?) viewed where the Shuttle program would evolve relative to where is it today.
Entertaining episode...

Definitely worth a listen! I think you will also like the only other episode I am aware of by this writer: POSTAGE DUE.

[b:f907ccdec4]The Last Duel CBSRMT 820430 [/b:f907ccdec4]narrated by Tammy Grimes
This episode is an Alexander Pushkin story adapted for the CBSRMT by James Agate Jr., Lee Richardson stars.
The story is about a matter of honor to be settled between two military men relvolving around the love of the same young lady. [b:f907ccdec4]The Duel[/b:f907ccdec4] will keep you in suspense, it is well acted, and I thought very entertaining.
Creative writing by Pushkin, the original material would probably make a good read.
Worth mentioning for Shakespeare buffs is a quote from Othello in the intro...
[quote:f907ccdec4][i:f907ccdec4]Iago to Othello: "...good name in man and women dear my lord is the immediate jewel of their souls... He that filches from me my good name robs from me of that which enriches him and makes me poor indeed.."[/i:f907ccdec4][/quote:f907ccdec4]
advertiserments that I noted: Henry Winkler for Leukemia, The American Red Cross, and Bob Hope with a PSA for High Blood Pressure

[b:6640cfbb07]Gate 27 CBSRMT 820121[/b:6640cfbb07] narrated by E.G. Marshall
Great Story! Great acting! This is one of my favorites so far...
Gate 27 stars Fred Gwynne, Carry Keen (sp), Cort Benson, and Bernard Grant.
[quote:6640cfbb07]"He that is not handsome at 20, strong at 30, Rich at 40, nor wise at 50 will never be handsome, strong rich or wise..."[/quote:6640cfbb07]
The story is about about a homeless beggar who was once an officer of the law. One day he rediscovers himself after eventually falling in love with a women he'd been begging from at Gate 27 (train terminal).
He becomes worried when one day she doesn't show up at the train station. He goes into detective mode to help solve the mystery of her disappearance.
Cameo by Himan Brown? (beat cop)
