Hi Charlie,
Just in case it wasn't loud enough before, thanks very much for sending me all the RMT files. It took a while to figure out Streamload, but after learning to use Get Right it was fast and easy. :D
For some reason I could not d/l the following:
295
584
684
743
764
You suggested to me in e-mail that I make a plea here for those 6 in order to complete my library.
Now for another question, I am still trying to understand exactly the fundamentals of Streamload. Is there a catalog somewhere of files that people have made available? Or can I only download those files specifically addressed to my inbox as you did?
I would very much like to have some OTR comedy shows like Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Groucho, etc. I am not sophisticated enough to konw where to look for them. Any ideas?
Thanks for being such a genial host. I am going to try to be more participatory here now.

Don,
I sent you some Jack Benny, Grouch Marx, and Milton Berle programs.

Vince,
Thank you very much for those! I received the e-mail from Streamload and will download them shortly. They are some of my favorites!

Don,
Let us know if you've got an interest in other programs. I could have shipped many others.

Thanks Vince,
I appreciate the offer.
Do you have any insight into why Streamload might have declined to download the listed RMT files which Charlie had previously e-mailed me?

I will download the comedy shows you have sent and try to find a place to store them and then perhaps come back to "beg" for some more.
I am somewhat of a newbie at all of this, and I feel a little "greedy" at taking all this largesse without having anything to offer in return. (Except for my sincere thanks!)

Don,
We're happy to share so please don't worry about it not having programs to offer! I've noticed that Streamload is having some problems, currently, so I'm not sure what is going wrong.

Don,
Sometimes Streamload kills files if they have not been downloaded by anyone for a long time. In that case, they need to be uploaded again. problem for me is that I am on dial-up and can rarely stay on long enough to do the job.

Hey Don, I noticed a few of those things with Streamload as I was downloading this set, too. I've heard they methodically delete things that haven't been used like Charlie also mentioned. It's a drag! The thing I've learned from hearing about Streamload is not to count on them for storing things. I download and get a copy burned rather than expecting the files to stay there (while it *looks* like the files are there, we've experienced the messages where Streamload tells us it's inaccessible).
I'm running on a rather challenged computer. I'm impressed that you've figured out that GetRight thing. From the tiny bit of dabbling with it that I've done, I don't see it as being any easier to bulk download than sitting here clicking and hitting "save" "save" to get it onto my hard drive. Any pointers for another newbie?
I've been downloading like a mad woman this past month with most being done over the past 6 days since I had cable internet installed for a rock bottom price (2 months, free!!!). I'm sticking with it since it's ending up to be cheaper than my regular ISP was. Gotta love that! Anyway, my method has been to download as much as will fit on my very limited hard drive space (I've got 200MB free and that's it!), burn those onto CDs, verify that the episodes are there (by a quick listen on WinAmp fast forwarding through a couple of spots) and then deleting the files from my hard drive. It's been a rather drawn out process but at least the downloading is going much faster than it had been. LOL. It took me an entire month to get the 1GB downloaded last month. Now rather than doing 6 episodes per day I try to do 100. LOL.
It's been fun hearing snippets of the monstrous quantity of programs that I've been downloading. I'm very grateful to those of you who have Streambeamed their programs to me. smile.gif I don't know *where* you all got these to begin with, that part of this whole collecting thing amazes me and like Don, I'm doubting I'll ever have a contribution other than a heartfelt *thank you*. smile.gif So far, I've got hard copies of CBSRMT (someone made that set for me), GMRAT, MRT, Sears, Abbott & Costello and Maisie (as much as was on my Streamload file--they're not complete sets but nonetheless they will be enjoyed). I better get back to work. LOL. Downloading, that is. I'm on a short term upgrade of the cable speed for downloading that they're tempting users with. LOL. I'm going to go my best to download my entire inbox with Streamload and then take a rest from downloading and listen to the episodes!

Actually, GetRight is very easy to use - and very worthwhile.
It will let you prepare your downloads in advance and you can manually download or you can go to bed and let it work for you overnight.
This is a piece of software not to be missed!
