I seem to remember listening to some Shakespeare performed during the RMT hour. Was that RMT? Or was it another radio show I happened upon?

If it was RMT, can someone point me to them, or even better, put 'em up for downloading off of Streamload?

Thanks a ton!

RMT use to air "theme weeks" with writers adapting from classic stories by Shakespeare, Poe and others.

Here's the list of shows that aired that were adapted from William "Bud" Shakespeare:

760419 "Murder Most Foul" (Macbeth)
760420 "The Assassination" (Julius Caesar)
760421 "The Love Song Of Death" (Romeo & Juliet)
760422 "The Green Eyed Monster" (Othello)
760743 "Long Live The King Is Dead (Hamlet)
760424 "The Prince Of Evil" (Richard The Third)
760425 "The Serpent Of The Nile" (Anthony & Cleopatra)

If you do not have these episodes, please post your Streamload account ID and I will send them to you. Glad to be of service,

I'll never forget high school speech class. The first week we had to memorize part of Julius Caesar and it remains with me to this day.

Wherefore rejoice? What conquest brings he home? What tributaries follow him to Rome, to grace in captive bonds his chariot-wheels? You blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things! O you hard hearts, you cruel men of Rome, knew you not Pompey? Many a time and oft have you climb'd up to walls and battlements, to towers and windows, yea, to chimney-tops, your infants in your arms, and there have sat the livelong day, with patient expectation, to see great Pompey pass the streets of Rome: and when you saw his chariot but appear, have you not made an universal shout, that Tiber trembled underneath her banks, to hear the replication of your sounds made in her concave shores? And do you now put on your best attire? And do you now cull out a holiday? And do you now strew flowers in his way that comes in triumph over Pompey's blood? Be gone! Run to your houses, fall upon your knees, pray to the gods to intermit the plague that needs must light on this ingratitude.

Will that get me on Jeopardy?

Charlie,

Answer: Yes. In the form of a question, "What are Charlie's chances of being on Jeopardy?"

I enjoy different interpretations of Shakespeare works after studying the originals.

Favorite askew versions:
"Atomic Shakespeare" (The Taming Of The Shrew as presented by the cast of "Moonlighting")

"Hamlet, The Musical" (As presented by Phil Silvers and the cast of Gilligan's Island)

The entire season of "Blackadder II", though not direct interpretations but closer to farce!

"The Conscience Of The King" (As presented on Star Trek: TOS with special guest and RMT veteran, Arnold Moss)

Enough of this frivolity! Til we meet again, I must take my leave of thee.

That's a riot Matt! redface.gif

Watch my Listening Logs soon for the Shakespeare titles you listed. I will get started on that next week. Or, better yet, I would love to see you start a Listening Log and go through those too. smile.gif

Charlie,
Any chance we can spin this information to a new topic? That is, a topic centered on the actors and the writers? I'd love to know more but sadly, I only know the very common things about these fine people.

Interesting timing - I was tooling through the member list and looking at web pages of our members when I noticed NTATLANTIS appears to have a special section of his/her website dedicated to William Shakespeare. I wish he/she would offer some comments/expertise.

redface.gif Thanks for the nod Vince. I am fascinated by the whole Shakespeare authorship controversy. I grew up enjoying the works of Shakespeare never doubting his position as author. I also grew up respecting one of the most viable authorship candidates but independent of the supposed controversy, but rather on his own merits. By the time I had allowed my understanding of the wqorks of Shakespeare to intersect with my knowledge and Francis Bacon, and eventually a better understanding of Elizabethan England, it seemed to me that there was enough material there for perhaps the most amazing mystery in the English language. While I consider myself more knowledgeable than most as goes the works of Shakespeare, and certainly better acquainted with many as goes the live and works of Sir Francis Bacon, I make no claim to be an expert on either, nor do I claim a clear understanding of who exactly the true author(s) was (were). Rather it is an open question worthy of research. Many have spent there lives pursuing this mystery to no certain conclusion, I can't help but think more than a handful of CBSRMT fans have given a moment or two to consider the subject. As mystery's go this one is a beauty! Anyone visiting my site's Shakespeare Authorship forum, please forgive me. I am rather new to this and the site is in it's infancy. I will be developing the forum further in the near future. For now those of you with an interest would likely enjoy the collection of links to the major players. Best regards.

John (NAtlantis),
Somehow I missed your response until today. I'm not sure how I did this because I was awful curious to see your post. Anyway, you're right in that I've also known of the Shakespeare authorship controversy for many years and I think it's a great mystery. I thank you for your above post and maybe others who read our forums will take a look at your site if they aren't aware of the issue. Good job!
