Picking my favorite episode("Death Is a Woman") was fairly easy. Deciding on my 2nd most favorite episode took a little more thought. I've decided it's "The Judge's House" a first-rate adaptation of a 1891 Bram Stoker short story (Which I've read several times) by Bob Juhren. It was first broadcast on September 25, 1981 (I remember it was a dreary, rainy Friday night--which undoubtably accounts for my strong reaction to it). Like the original, it's set in a remote English village north of Liverpool. Two college students rent an old cottage in the village with the intention of finishing a thesis on abnormal psychology. The local villagers tell them they are staying in the "Judge's House" (so named for the former owner-- "Hanging" Judge Shelling-- who was noted for ringing his cottage bell on the day of each hanging he had ordered). Since the Judge's demise the bell has continued to mysteriously ring on they day any villager has died-- BEFORE they died. The first night the classmates stay there the "Death" bell RINGS AGAIN! Check this one out and until next time............Pleasant Dreams!
