Hello,
These shows (not in any order and right off the top of my head) are my top five favorite:
The Body Snatchers
Stephanie's Room
A Bride For Death
Come Back With Me
The Deadly Hour
and one more - The Summer People
If any one has any faves I may not have heard let me know... The more disturbing and creepy the better.
Thanks, Foolsholiday

I talked about "Stephanie's room" within my listening log. That was a haunting episode.

I agree about "The summer people"...that was a subtle, but pretty unnerving episode.

I'd highly recommend 0276 "The Diamond Necklace" 5-19-74. While "Hickory, Dickory, Doom" is still my favorite, Diamond Necklace ranks right up there.

"The Hand" and "Time and again" will, I hope, be soon on the "Show of the week" list...they're that good.

I've never posted a top five list. Mine might go something like this:

Hickory, Dickory, Doom

A Long Way from Home

You're Going to Like Rodney

Sagamore Cottage

Out of Sight

There are others that could easily be on this list. I've listened to about 450 episodes so far, so I'm not even half way through the series yet.

Funny, in another thread in this forum I wrote: "If you haven't visited Stephanie's Room - don't."

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but for myself it was painful to hear the actress speak like a child. Honestly, and forgive me for saying so, but I think I rolled my eyes a few times during Stephanie's Room. Again, though, glad you enjoyed it.

Summer People is one of my favorites. I've actually heard that one twice and both times I was held captive.

If you're looking for five episodes, the five I remember most clearly from when they were originally broadcast (because they were my favorite back then and they are the whole reason I visited here) were the Pompeii Series.

It is a five part series of the Last Days of Pompeii, and while not altogether macabre, there is a certain terror in knowing the outcome of the people you get to meet in the episodes. There's sort of a dramatic, religious soap opera quality to them. They aired sometime in 1980, but I do not have the dates.

If you're interested to hear them, they are called:
1. The City of the Dead
2. Thrown to the Lions
3. Half Prophet, Half Friend
4. Danger, Love and Death
5. The Buried City

You may find them under those names in the 1980 collection.
I truly hope you enjoy them as much as I did/do!

Very best wishes,

Fizz

As a new visitor to the site. I have not had time to form my opinion yet.

I just wanted you to know how valuable such a dialogue is to the new user. This helps focus attention to the episodes which have received the greatest response.

I have started a tally sheet of the responses in this thread and within a couple of pages, I should have an excellent list of shows to begin my listening.

I would suggest that posters include dates of episode since that is the sequence number needed to find the episode quickly.

PLEASE keep up the excellent dialogue...

Thanks.

Learner,

I've rated almost 500 episodes in my listening log and add episodes almost daily. If you trust my judgement, you may reference my ratings.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I had not seen this section of the forum.

You and others who regularly contribute to this section of the forum put a great deal of work into making available a very useful tool for the general listener. This is much appreciated.

I don't feel qualified to even answer this truthfully until I listen to all of the episodes. I have some favorites though.

Breakout
Second Sight
Death On Skiis
The Ghost Driver
Is the Doctor In?
