Until recently I didn't have a care in the world for Old Time Radio Shows. All that changed in November, when I brought a Apple iPod. My iPod holds up to 40 Gb worth of files, which is quite a lot of music.
Music, however, was beginning to bore me - after all, it's just the same story with a different melody. I then threw my love at AudioBooks, however, Audiobooks are quite long and remind me too much of reading a book. Not that I don't like reading, but I meant to listen to these Audiobooks when I was on the go, and 30 hours of Harry Potter simply wasn't what I was looking for. One day I was praticing Karate in my room, when I accidently gave one of my many shelves a 'chop' with my right hand. Although it hurt, I forgot the pain almost instantly. The complete works of Edgar Allan Poe had fallen upon the floor. Naturally, I read Poe before, but I never listened to it on tape - and it was then I was reminded of Poe's attitude towards long stories. He was a pioneer of the short story, he believed that writing should be readable in one sitting to avoid sacrificing the aspect of unity. Perfect. I went onto my computer, and downloaded a few Poe audiobooks of the net. It was then that I stumbled across the voice of Vincent Price. A voice I vaguely remembered from movies. Quickly I went on the net to find more Poe narratored by Price, but alas, I couldn't find a single clip. My luck changed quickly though, because a few days later, I went onto amazon.co.uk's auction site and found 5 CD's of Poe narratored by Basil Rathbone and Vincent Price for just 4 GBP. Yay.
My thirst was clenched for a while, but before long the CD's where gone and I was again without horror stories. Just a day or two before Christmas Eve, my online searches came up with www.radiolovers.com (http://www.radiolovers.com) and a few 'random' horror stories. One story stood out in both acting and plot, and that was a CBS production, and so here you have me in your forum. Begging for anyone to send me episodes - to be honest I havn't got a single one yet, or I did, but then I was forced to format my computer. So please, if there's anyone out there willing to spare a CDBRMT program for a young student in Denmark, let me know.
PS. I'm willing to send/share-online my 5 CD's of Poe; the track listing is as follows below:
Vincent Price reads:
Ligeia
The imp of the perverse
Morella
Berenice
The Gold bug
Basil Rathbone reads:
The Tell-tale heart
The fall of the house of Usher
The black cat
The cask of Amontillado
The masque of the red death
The pit and the pendulum
The haunted place
The bells
The facts of the case of M. valdemar
The raven
Annabel lee
Eldorado
To--
Alone
City in the sea
Yours sincerely,
Christian
