Ladies and Gentlemen,
In just a few days I will have acquired a full set of CBS Radio Mystery Theater programs - all of them.
These are all normalized and have standard bitrates thanks to the hard work of someone I will leave nameless unless he would like to identify himself. What an amazing job to do all of that work and help preserve recordings of the program. I understand that my friend has been at this for quite sometime.
If you are wanting to acquire a complete set of programs yourself, that may be possible in the future. Feel free to contact me and I may put you in touch with my friend. I will have a complete set but I do not have time to duplicate these at the monent altough I hope to be able to do so in the future.
Make no mistake, these programs are [b:46330b8a7c]not for sale[/b:46330b8a7c] not will they be given to someone who has any intention of [b:46330b8a7c]selling or trying to profit[/b:46330b8a7c] from having a full set of programs.
Perhaps soon we can all have a full set and by agreeing to help others acquire programs, we stop people from illegally selling them for profit.
Questions, comments ... please post a reply or private message me.

Charlie:
I agree 100%. RMT is a love of radio that was brought back to the kids and adults in the 70s. No one should profit from selling the disks. I am trying to get a full set myself. I have about 1000 of the programs. I have converted about 500 to cda for playing in the car. I have been sharing my 18 mp3 disks with friends. Many nites in the 70s and early 80s I listened to these broadcast with my son, who is now 30, and he plays the disk in my collection all night every night to help him sleep. He is now disabled with a terminal illness and his chemo makes him very ill such that he spends a lot of time in bed 10-12 hours per day. Getting a collection of RMT over the Internet has been a blessing. I actually have 50 real to real, about 70 8 track and 25-30 cassettes I recorded for him as a child. Most have gone bad. I hope to help others get their RMT collection going and give the kids of the new century another turn at RMT-30 years later. Especially those who would sit in the dark with their dads and listen to EGM tell the story. Our favorite episodes are: Hickory Dickory Doom and for Christmas: A Holiday Visit. Our name is Taylor, so I labeled the casette 12/25/80 (22 years ago) Xmas in taylor town. We played that tape till it died. And as I wrote to you, Astroself (the way I labeled it) which I have not recovered.

John,
I'm sorry to hear that your son is ill. It is good that he can listen to and enjoy the programs.
It sounds like you are close to having a full collection. Maybe soon I can offer some fills for you.

Charlie,
If a complete set does indeed come available, I am willing and happy to post all of them (permanently, forever) on my ftp server.
People wanting to download CBSRMT files would NEVER be charged a fee.
You could trust me with a set of CDs (which I would return to you, undamaged) or any other means you think appropriate.

Hi all!
I'm new here, but Charlie said you were all a bunch of great people and I should check you all out.
I'm the one Charlie mentioned earlier who has been distributing the complete CBSRMT on 22 cds.
If anyone is interested in getting their own copy, please email me.
I'm too busy to do the IM thing, but I do read and respond to all emails at least twice a day.
Thanks,
Brian Pringle

[b:b8c310db5f]Welcome aboard Brian![/b:b8c310db5f]
Actually Brain, on this particular post I was speaking of Chris Z. in Wisconsin who distributed only 5 copies of the complete set he compiled and normalized and converted to standard bitrates. I do have one of those also.
I posted that before I met you. About the same time I became aware of how you were helping folks also.
In any event, I want to welcome you Brian because you will be a great help to the other folks here.
I do have a complete set I received from Brain and what [b:b8c310db5f]fantastic[/b:b8c310db5f] work and the packaging and included paperwork is most impressive.
Brian, I really want to thank you for the work you have done and receiving the complete set from you was a real treat for me. And, I want to offer a special welcome to you here!

Sorry about that.... I just assumed.........<grin>
I have also normalized the whole set using MP3TrimPro, but I didn't reencode them because some of them REALLY shouldn't be, IMHO. The sound quality usually suffers too much when one does that to marginal quality, low bitrate files, so I resisted the urge to do so.
Maybe I, too, should have stopped at five sets, but at the moment I think I'm warming my Michigan computer room with the heat from the burners this winter. <wink>

No problem Brian because the post did describe you too.
You've done just [b:0cc4336e05]fantastic work[/b:0cc4336e05] and it could not be more enjoyable to receive a package in the mail like the one you sent to me.
I have professional audio editing software (Sound Forge and Cool Edit) that I could use to work some of these over but like everyone, time is a problem.
Ross (see other threads on these forums) is working over some old programs he recorded as well.
Really, it is just great that we can listen to these programs again and that there are so many (all of them) available.
