I was looking at streamload and if I understand correctly, a 10 meg file is the largest you can download. If this is true, how can you download a mystery theatre file? All of mine are over 10 meg? Did I misunderstand?

On the "freeloader" account I believe that is the limit. Once you are a regular subscriber I don't think there are any limits. I pay them $4.95 a month for 1.2 gig of bandwidth.

Yes, I was refering to the freeloader account. By regular subscriber, do you mean "paying".

Yes, and let me make it clear that this is paying for bandwidth to make the transfer - not for programs. The money is payed to Streamload for their bandwidth. This kind of downloading is more than that average user ever does and is some pretty heavy duty data transfers.

I spend more than $4.95 for lunch most days so that has been a small price to pay for 1.2 gig of bandwidth. That's a lot of programs! smile.gif

Thanks Charlie. I understand you are not charging for the programs, and I am very appreciative of your generosity. And I also agree that $4.95 is a small price to pay for that much space. I have been an internet user for a long time and I still remember the days when most everything offered on the internet for a price was also available for free somewhere. I also know that this is not true in most cases anymore. I'll let you know if I subscribe. Thanks again for your generosity and also for this site. I love it.

Sure thing Jeff.

You can do okay with file sharing applications - as you know. I sometimes leave the machine on to share on WinMX but as I have lamented before, I am on dial up and there is a reliability factor there.

With Streamload, you at least know that you can download at top speeds (at least I can) when you want, what you want. If I transfer a load of files to someones account they can get what they want when they want.

Of course, file sharing is fun sometimes too. I used to get a big charge out of completing a program that way. smile.gif

Yes. WinMX and dial up do not go well together. I used to be dial up, but am now cable modem. I did some downloading when I was dial up, but patience was the key then. I am still considering the streamload option.

[color=violet:9cda6c71b9]After considering it carefully, I decided to go ahead a pay the $4.95. So far (with a dial up connection) I have been able to download 8 shows. Not a lot but feel pretty good that $4.95 is worth it. Patience is the key for dial up downloads but when I think about what I am getting I am willing to make the effort.

Thanks again Charlie. [/color:9cda6c71b9] smile.gif

Believe me, I downloaded [b:9975d6d8fd]hundreds[/b:9975d6d8fd] of programs like that.

Are you able to get one every 30 to 45 minutes?

When we would go away for a few hours, I would start 4 or 5 at once and when we came back, poof, I had new programs. smile.gif

Yeah it's taking about 45 mins per show.

I've been doing the same thing. Started downloading them in the morning before I leave for work. Get home, couple of new programs.

Weekends are a bit easier. Have more time to keep checking and starting new downloads.

I joined Streamload's freeloader account to be able to get the complete collection, thanks to Charlie's kindness. There are quite a few shows under 10.0 but quite a few that aren't. I downloaded 62 shows into a folder on a high-speed connection at work, then burned those onto a single CDR. I can throw it in my DVD player at home and voila, hours upon hours of greatness. I hate it that I cannot play that particular CD in the vehicle, as I could listen to an entire show each way to work.

Getting back to the subject at hand, I wanted to burn the shows in order and listen to them that way as well. I didn't want size to be a factor, so I subscribed to the $4.95 account and consider that a very small price to pay for such a service.

Thanks again everyone,
Chris

I downloaded almost the entire collection via Streamload. I'd encourage people to pay the $9.95 and get the 5000 mbs per month. You can get the entire collection pretty quickly (provided somebody is willing to streambeam it to you.

I say "almost" because sometimes Streamload can be a little finicky with some shows, calling them "temporarily unavailable."

I regularly rotate shows on WinMX and Bearshare. My handle there is the same as here. Can do requests if you let me know.
