[quote:7634b9d08d="vgarci"]Brad,
Welcome aboard and I've streamed you the files. You're now the proud owner of every episode! Enjoy and participate in our forums, my friend. This is a great group of people! vince :)[/quote:7634b9d08d]
hey Vince! thank you so much! i guess i need to read the "fine print" concerning Streamload...i brifly logged-on and when i tried to download a file (my first attempt) it prompted me that i had already exceeded my limit! now, to be fair, i only signed up intitially to get an account going and i did a freebie, so, i imagine that it has to do with the size of the files...i will have to read their subscription levels and choose one that will get me going! again, thaniks so much!

Brad,
We have a lot of info on Streamload here on the site but to get you quick started, you can go for the $4.95 a month (or more) or pay 3 (or more) months at a time and get a LOT of programs quickly. If you have high-speed and depending on what you want to spend, you can get them flying in pretty fast.

Brad,
Charlie's right. There's some good info on this forum about Streamload but suffice it to say that I've used it for several months and though it hasn't been perfect, it's really a great service.
Anyway, I'll bet you ran into the 10 meg max per file on freebie downloads. For a good demonstration, download a file that's smaller than 10 megs or if you have a favorite program or even 10 favorites, I'd be glad to host them for you so you can get them quickly.

yes, i am sure that is what happened!...thank you for the kind offer, but, i am going to upgrade from freebie status...i think they have a valuable service and i want to support it...i do have dsl and about 150 GB of free disk space, so i am anxious to get the complete RMT set downloaded!...
Brad
PS...i had a really cool experience today listening to an OTR show i downloaded from limewire the other day...it was a show called Dimension X (the precursor th X-Minus One...but you probably knew that!)...anyway, the episode was "Destination Moon" and 3/4 through it was interupted with a news flash that North Korea had just declared war on South Korea...I am usually pretty excited when i get an unedited show that has all of the commercials and news updates included...fascinating! it takes me back in a big way! speaking of being taken back, the one show that i used to listen to every week around 1970 was broadcast on Public Radio...i don't recall the name but it was Jean Shepard reading his stories...he had just a mesmerizing affect on me...i recall hot summer nights with the windows open, crickets chirping and men on moon, all the while listening to Jean weave tales of teenage shinanigans and unrequited love...does anyone else remember this show?

I have four or five Jean Shepherd shows somewhere. They are long.
I downloaded them for my mother who is a big fan of his movies (He did more than Christmas Story).
I can upload them to Streamload and send them to you.

hey Brian! wow! that would be great! thanks so much! javascript:emoticon(' :D ') the only problem is that, since i became a card-carrying Streamload subscriber earlier this evening, I cannot download any files...major bummer javascript:emoticon(' :( ') problem is (based on experience) I am a Mac user...it is fun being an iconoclast most of the time, but, unfortunately, the world, for the most part, spins on the Intel axis...I have an email in to Streamload technical support and i am really, really optomisticjavascript:emoticon('') that they can figure it out... any other Mac users out there???

Brian,
I'd love the Jean Sheppard programs too (vgarci via streamload). His Christmas Story was terrific and his narration makes it all the better.
Brad,
We do have some Mac users and you can find some excellent help from Dante101 at:

Brad,
Credit for the mac info really owed to Dante101! The rest of us are pretty much mac handicapped but it's great to have him as a resource.

Have been using Macs since 1987... have a LimeGreen iMac in the office at home, a 7600 in the bedroom, and two 7100's (one in the rec room and one in the dining room). They're all networked and online.
My solution to the Mac software issue was to pick up a 500mhz PIII desktop with USB and network card for $10 on eBay and a surplus monitor from a friend for free. Now I can download from the PC, toss them onto my external drive and then pop it over to the Mac.
Networking the PC and the Mac required special software (PCMacLan for about $300 tongue.gif but it works amazingly well... can share directories from and to each machine as well as network the printer. I intend to set up the PC as a file server and, with Timbuktu, can access it from any machine at home, or from work.
I found Mac download manager applications at
http://search.tucows.com/search?search=download+manager&platform_id=1647%2C1686%2C1687%2C1688%2C1705%2C170 6&language_id=1&type=exactany&site_detail_id=680&ref=
I haven't tried any of them, when I do I'll post information on compatibility with Streamload.
I'm a bit of a cyber-geek, :093: but I have fun with it smile.gif CBSRMT any time, anywhere.
cheers

Hi Miles...thank you for the words of encouragement, but, to put it simply, Streamload ain't gonna work for the kid...i did the workaround that Dante suggested, but, it is at best cumbersome and frustrating (and you have to buy two additional shareware programs)...I have used OSX since it was a beta release and I simply will not go back to Classic mode. I did get a prompt response from the Streamload folks and they were pleasant but, to paraphrase their reply to the problem, "I haven't had a Mac for a few years but have you tried..." Oh well! so, lesson learned...I hope to continue participating with this group because everyone has been very supportive and friendly! I have another avenue for obtaining the shows...I can get them on MP3 cds from OTRCAT.com...I found him through eBay (I bought the complete X-Minus One series) and was very pleased with the quality (although I did have to correct all the MP3 Tags manually...one at a time!
thanks again!

Mac user here as well. Thanks to the list and recommendations to try "Monica" (download manager), I have all of the RMT episodes stored! Now I need a bigger iPod as my 10gb model is all full up!

Brad,
Don't buy the shows! I hate to se people give money to hucksters who profit from illegally selling the programs.
If you want to get the programs on CD, send vgarci a private message and maybe he can help you out. He doesn't sell the programs!

Hi Everyone! I wanted to let you know that the folks at Streamload were very courteous and prompt with there response to the Mac issue...there just isn't an easy solution at this time. Thank you Charlie for the heads up concerning the CDs that are being sold!
