You've hit the motherlode! The files range from about 8 megs to 13 megs per show so they can be downloaded easilly with a broadband connection or they simply take a little longer with a dial up connection. Check your streamload account and you'll have all of the programs in individual files. Enjoy and PARTICAPATE!!!! :) I highly recommend you start with the show of the week posted by Ross.

It makes the commute back and forth to work much easier...and nearly enjoyable. I find myself looking forward to the commute....isn't that something.

Being a teacher, as soon as I saw your post, I immediately saw the potential for a math lesson: If episodes are 45 minutes long, and your commute is 60 minutes. Assuming you work 5 days a week and take 2 weeks holidays, how long would it take to listen to all 1399 episodes (express your answer in years).

Create an algebraic formula to find the answer for commutes of different lengths.

(come on, miles... relax! it's summer holidays!!)

Anyway, I figure you've got a couple of years worth of commutes there at least smile.gif

I'm what they call a technical lead in the Quality Assurance arena. So much for that...what I'm really trying to do is wiggle out of giving you the answer to your mathematical problem..... :lol:

Well I think I'll get busy downloading the shows....I'm actually going to read the instructions (something I don't do often) and determine how to download all the shows in fell swoop 8) .

I want to take a couple of days to work on getting the CBSRMT shows downloaded and copied to CD's but once I've completed that, I would be happy to make available (via streamload) some of the OTR shows I have. I beleive I had about 1700 shows at last count. Shows I have include; Johnny Dollar, Rocky Fortune, Couple Next Door, Life of Riley, Shadow, Suspense, Ozzie and Harriet, and the list goes on.....

Again....I want to extend my gratitude for the CBS shows and the warm welcome.

Gosh! What a great thing, place to find. I was talking to a coworker about old time radio and mentioned that I use to listen to Radio Mystery Theater while staioned in Washington D.C. in the late 70's. He mentioned that he listened to RMT during the same period. We've both been diligently locating an episode here and another episode there. Well, needless to say, I've set up a Streamloader account in the hopes that, I too, might be sent the entire collection.

I have been trying to complete a set of all shows and put them on CDs. I have completed 1974 and 1975 but when I got to 1976 and 1977 I started finding that some shows were missing. Here is a list of the ones that I have found so far: #410 Jan 7, 1976, 431, 433, 434, 462 Apr 5, 1976; 637 Apr 19, 1977, 638, 639, 640, 641, 648, 651, 653, 658, 669, 672, 673, 674, 679, 685, 690, 691 Jul 29, 1977. Can you help me with these missing shows? I appreciate all that you have shared with me. My Streamload name is garyleefaa. Thanks for whatever you can do. It's great having two complete years on CD. I had the same problem. Let me try re-uploading a couple to streamload and see if that fixes the problem. Sometime it does, sometimes it doesn't.

If you can't get them from streamload, we'll burn you a cd. We'll get you that complete set.

I think with the advent of MP3s and the internet these programs will be more easily available. I have a few dozen different series of OTR now... something more than 9000 different episodes, certainly more than I'll ever be able to listen to in my lifetime, but I received them just by asking other colelctors, and have been sharing them upon request.

If you're interested, I'd be happy to zip the entire collection to your streamload acct.

I am about to throw in the towel... I cannot download the files to my harddrive. ( I have a Mac ) All I can do is listen to the streaming audio... I consider this a major bummer.
I am checking the logs provided and trying to listen to the best shows.
But, once my month subscription with Streamload expires so does my collection ( major bummer )
I think it would help if you mention that Mac users are unable to directly download from Streamload without purchasing some other download manager.

I too am a long time Mac user (since 1984 when my university filled a couple of labs with MacSE's and then a string of desktops and laptops).

THe long and short of it is that there is no easy way to queue downloads on a Mac. I have had differing degrees of success downloading them individually to my drive...

I'm sure we can arrange to get a set of CD's to you, or maybe you can find a PC somewhere to grab and burn the files you want. (I picked up an old 400mhz PIII with a 10GB drive, 128mb RAM, and 10bT NIC, with keyboard and mouse on eBay for $50 including shipping - an old monitor was $25. Not as simple as a software solution, but when you're an addict like me... hehe

I recommend you use the listening logs to help pick episodes. There are well over 700 unique plot summaries there. You'll find something to interest you.

Welcome and I hope you'll join in the discussions. We love to give these episodes. All we ask is a comment or two every once in awhile to contribute to the group. Better yet, start and maintain a listening log to contribute to a database for others to consult.

Jump in and select a story of the week. You don't need to know anything about the show to select one. Just pick a title that sounds good. We'd love to have you stick around.

Eric,
I'd be glad to send the set but there are a couple of "gotchas". The freeload account with Streamload limits the maximum file size to 10 megs. This wouldn't be a problem in most cases but a good portion of the shows exceed 10 megs. Also, the freeload account permits a very limited monthly download so you may run into this limit before you have many programs. Regardless, I'll send the files and you can see if Streamload works for you.

Hello there!

My sister introduced me to CBSRMT back in the 1970's, both of us thinking that listening to these programs was like participating with the distribution of contraband. We were both in elementary school and these programs came on at 10 PM and 11 PM in Seattle.

When I see my sister at Christmas, I shall boast of your website and the number of wonderful stories I get to listen to...again.

Plus, today, I set up DSL. What a great way to start using my newly purchased bandwidth!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I found this website and then I found your message. My mom got me hooked in the 70's she would record them as they played each week, over the years the tapes wore out and broke.

I have not had the good fortune to ride Amtrak since I got my portable MP3 player. I used to take the Capitol Limited out of Toledo to Washington, D.C. once a year. Didn't get to do that last year.
