:( Hi everyone !
I am listening to " A Bargain in Blood'' Right now. What a great story.

I have a problem and maybe someone can help me. I have tried to download from Streamload into my browser download file. Normaly, I do not have a problem with it. I have Internet Explorer 5.1. When I download from Streamload, it does not go into my file but as it downloads it looks as if it is loading a new web page . I have tried all day to figure this out. Can anyone help????

Hi Ethel,

From the word "Mac" I am lost. :?:

I don't know how to offer support for that. If you are "streamimg" the programs versus "downloading" then that would explain it but for a Mac I don't know what to tell you. :?

Maybe one of our other members can help you on this. If not, I suggest contacting Streamload support or another Mac user. Must be an issue with that machine and that is beyond my range of computer knowledge.

I'm on a Mac, and have the same problem. The way around it, using Explorer, is to "control-click" on the word "download" (next the the episode title, on the left side) and select "Download Link to Disk." A dialog box will open, asking where you want to save the file. Also, in this dialog box, you need to rename your file, as all files seem to be given the same generic filename.

This is very slow and time-consuming.

If you simply want to download a batch of episodes, it's easier.

I use a shareware program called "Monica" (available on sites like Versiontracker.com), and a text editor called "Tex-Edit Plus."

Here's what to do:

This is a bit long, as I wanted to make sure the newest Newbie could follow (this isn't just for you, but all other Mac users who come along - so no offense, I'm not trying to insult your computer literacy or anything)...

First, go to your Streamload preferences page (Account info --> Edit Site Preferences) and make sure you have "Generic (Get Right)" selected as your Download Manager option.

Click "Update Preferences" at the bottom of the page.

Go back to your Files page.

For whichever file or folder you wish to download, click on the little white box on it's extreme left side. Then go towards the upper bar (the one that starts with "Checked Files," and click on the "Download" button.

A page might come up telling you that a few titles are not available. You can click "continue anyway" to get what you can now (and come back later for the others - though you might want to take a screen shot of this page to remind you which ones you're missing); or you can try this some other time, when, perhaps, all the files are available at the same time. (I'm new at this - I don't know how normal it is to have them all available at the same time or not.)

After clicking "continue anyway," a dialog box might pop up saying that Explorer doesn't know how to handle this file (this is based on Explorer's preferences - you might not get this box). Click "save as."

Another dialog box will pop up, asking where you want to save the file, and giving you the option of renaming it. I usually rename the file to match the file/folder I'm trying to download.

This file being downloaded is a relatively small text file, consisting of the URL addresses for all the files you are trying to download. It won't take long at all to download onto your Mac.

Once downloaded, open this file up in Tex-Edit Plus.

In Tex-Edit, go under "Special" in the top menu bar menu. Under "Special," go down to "Quick Modify" and select "Strip LFs."

Now save the file - we're done with Tex-Edit.

Next, open up Monica.

Under the "File" menu (in top menu bar) select "Import."

Import the text file (the one you just modified using Tex-Edit).

You should suddenly see a flurry of URL addresses flooding the main window of Monica (depending on how many files you're trying to get).

If, instead, you get a flurry of "Invalid URL" dialog boxes (which is very annoying, but which you can get rid of by holding down your "enter" button), then the text file is not properly formatted. This can be either due to having the wrong Download Manager option selected in Streamload, or selecting a different option (other than Strip LFs) in Tex-Edit Plus.

The text file should be formatted as a simple list of URLs, each separated by a line break, and nothing else. For example:

http://209.123.45.67/gimme/blahblah/7806782345333457243/
http://209.123.45.67/gimme/another/7806776987667243/
http://209.123.45.67/gimme/whocares/7854734759067243/
http://209.123.45.67/gimme/yeahyeahss/780675645067243/

(The actual URLs are a LOT longer than these.) There should be no weird characters (like empty boxes) in this list of URLs. Go back and try again.

If everything is okay, then just press the start button in Monica (the little green arrow in the top left corner) and it will download everything to your harddrive.
