Charlie;
I don't ever remember that series. I have been listening to the RMT
series since you deposited them in my account. They are really good!
I listened to 2 or 3 through my Zenith console, but there is a terrible hum
I have to get rid of to really enjoy the shows.
If you have time , put 2 or 3 Adventure shows in my folder if you could..I'd be curious to listen to them.
Thanks for all you do ...

Uliv,
How are you playing your RMTs through your Zenith? Are you using a tape deck, CD player or a transmitter?
Ross
uliv
February 14th, 2003, 05:36 PM
Currently this is my setup:
I have my Dell notebook playing the MP3 files into an AM transmitter
that real estate professionals often use. It is actually a cassette player
that plays a "endless loop" tape and send it to an AM transmitter.
I have this contraption from Sony that looks like a cassette tape with a wire attached that plugs into your CD or boombox output.
The notebook feeds the cassette contraption which then broadcasts the
CBS RMT on ANY frequency in the AM band. But sometimes there is
a terrible hum coming from the transmitter...
There is only 1 set screw for the antenna output. There is no ground screw. And I only have a piece of wire about 12" long attached to the transmitter antenna screw.
Regards;
Bill

I think your problem is that you are using the Headphone output of your computer to feed your cassette contraption. The Headphone output is a "hot" output or more simply, a higher voltage output and you overdrive the rest of the set up. You should use the Line Out output if you have one. If you don't have a Line Out output, you can simply use your notebook speakers. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Dear Charlie,
Many thanks for the Streamload files. Have downoaded five, and will download more once I get a larger Streamload account set up.
I had never heard the episodes with Tom Bosley. Do you have access to the E.G. Marshall files? Those are the ones I am really interested in.
Thanks again for your efforts.

Dear Charlie,
Yes, there are a ton of files. I think the first ones were the Tom Bosley episodes. Will get a full account set up today.
It really is fantastic that you have done all this. I was born in '65, so when the episodes aired were from ages 9-16. This is about the time I began spending time at my grandfather's house in '74. We listened to those episodes together every Monday through Friday night at 10:04pm on KMOX, except when it was pre-empted by Larry King in the later 70's.
His health starting going down in the 80's, and died on St. Patrick's Day, 1983. My childhood memories of my grandfather are very much tied to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater. So, you efforts are greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Ted

Dear Charlie,
Just checked the site. I should have clarified earlier. The files on the site are the GMRAT folder (assuming General Mills Radio Adventure Theater).
Could you post the CBS Radio Mystery Theater Files with E.G. Marshall?
Thanks again for your help.

These sound PERFECT to cut to CD and play on my upcoming driving trip with the kids. I only wish I had an MP3 CD player... Oh well, I'll cut a dozen cd's at one show a piece and we'll be good.

Howdy Charlie,
How are ya? I still haven't heard you on the radio yet, I just can't seem to receive the signal (even on my Grundig). Next time Im down that way I'll make sure I tune in!
Anyhow, I was wondering if you could send me the CBS adventure theatre series to my streamload account "MPCP1".
I got a burner for my birthday and have been burning all of the CBSRMT eps for the past few days. I only have like 200 MB left on my streamload account until I my next billing period. But I have all of 1974,75, and alot of 82 downloaded and burned already.
I have also been listening to the Lux radio theatre eps. I really enjoy those they are really relaxed and easy to listen to at night in bed. I have alot of those. And I have access to almost every other otr show available through RUSC.
Anyhow, gotta get going. Talk to you again soon.
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,
I'm not sure why you can't hear us. When I go to St. John, I can usually get us in the car until just about 10 to 15 miles out of town but those hills block the signal nearer to town.

Brad -
how old are your children? my first is still in the womb so i have a while to wait yet... we have been playing music through headphones attached to my wife's belly... once i slipped in a CBSRMT episode, you know, to stimulate imagination and intellectual growth... but she heard the creaking door and Mr. Marshall was replaced with Mozart in short order...
*sigh* will just have to wait, i guess!

Hi All,
I downloaded these files (thanks to Charlie smile.gif ), cleaned them up, cut them to CD, and used them on a trip with my kids (in the car). GREAT GREAT GREAT!
But I wanted to share how I cleaned them up: the audio quality was terrible when I first downloaded them (many of them anyways). The voices went from very loud to distant garbled sounds. I loaded them into an editor and "Normalized" them. (Dang if I can't remember the tool I used, but it was free.) This evened out the sound and allowed us to hear everyone's voices equally. Without this, the kids could not understand it.
Well, hope this helps, enjoy!
