Russell Horton of CBSRMT fame stars in this episode adapted from an 1863 book by Edward Everett Hale, grand nephew of Nathan Hale who had "but one life to give for his country" in 1776.
Many of the events in this story are true as are many of the names of the people in the story. However, the main character, Phillip Nolan, is fictional.
Nolan was an army lieutenant who was so enamored with Vice-President Aaron Burr when he heard him speak that he deserted to follow him.
In 1804, Burr fought a duel with Alexander Hamilton which he (Burr) won. Nolan was present at the duel simply as a supported of Burr. Later, everyone present was arrested and charged with crimes but all were exonerated except Nolan, who had actually done nothing wrong on that day.
At trial, he was badgered by the prosecuting attorney who pushed him to the point that he exclaimed, "The United States ... United States - damn the United States. I wish I may never hear of the United States again!"
The judge agrees that this is a fitting sentence and makes it his punishment - he is to be taken to sea and transferred from one ship to another for the rest of his life.
I've only told you about the first few minutes of the program.
An excellent story and excellent acting. 5 stars for this episode which will be enjoyed by the CBSRMT fan as much as any CBSRMT episode. A very impressive Himan Brown production.

A learning-disabled teenager is being raised by his father in a rural area when sprawl approaches them in the form of a sub-division.
The young man is not pleased that the development will destroy or disturb many of his favorite places.
He knows more about the area than anyone around - even more than the developers who refuse to listen to him.

In 1976, two Illinois teenagers decide to explore a cave near their home.
While inside, a portion of it collapses and they appear trapped.
Some thorough searching indicates that there is another opening so they use it to exit the cavern.
All is not as it was when they entered the cave though. They emerge, only to find out that they are now in the time of Abraham Lincoln, in the days before he was president. And, there appears to be trouble.
