Hi,
As a mystery theater lover,
I also loved other radio programs that were on. I was wondering if anyone else ever listened to Dr. Demento on Sunday nights?
I also used to listen to talknet, which had Sally Jessy Raphael answering callers with problems long before she became a tv personality. Just wondering if anyone also recalls either of these.
But, of course, CBSRMT was the best.
Happy Holidays to all!

Sure I do! My dad is a Dr. Demento fanatic and has dozens of tapes full of Dr. Demento shows. He still plays them. I like Demento too but not to the same degree he does. I also remember Sally Jessy but I did not listen to her show regularly. One of the shows I remember from my high school days was "Nightfall". It was a CBC production that was rebroadcast in the States on NPR. There were some real spine tinglers in this series.
CBSRMT is my all time favourite series but Nightfall is probably number two.

I guess the Dr. Demento show is off? I listened in Nashville, Tn and they took it off there, but it was still airing in other cities. So I wasn't sure if he was still on the air. I have a cd of the greatest hits sold at stores.
I don't think "Nightfall" ever played in Nashville or if it did I did not discover it.
Sounds like a good one. I was hoping with the launching of satellite radio that radio drama would make a comeback, both the old and new series.
Maybe all of us fans should create one and become voice actors.
Ha!
Happy Holidays!

Dr. Demento was a staple for me and my brother on Sunday nights. for me, that was the last era of innocence in radio. funny thing is, when I hear the Queen song, Radio Ga-Ga, it reminds me of how much time we spent listening to radio in my youth. a fantastic time!

Hello to all,
Does anyone know when the Dr. went off the air everywhere? Just curious.
And, Wade, is "Nightfall" available?
Thanks,
Vicki

Hi Everyone,
Don't know for sure about Dr. Demento. My dad says he thought Demento is still on in some markets but doesn't know that for sure. He said it went off the air in the Oklahoma City area about 10 years ago.
I do have all the episodes of "Nightfall" but they are not uploaded to MediaMax. If people think it's worth the trouble I may do it so they can be shared. There are, I think, about 108 30 minute episodes in the series.
Best,
Wade

Yeah, I still have some Dr. Demento on tapes too. And I do remember listening to Talknet as well.

Here's the site for more information about Barry Hansen "Demento" and his current programing. There is a link to listen to streaming shows online.
