Hi,

For those of us who enjoy radio drama, it's nice to know that the genre is still very much alive and well in England. I wanted to share the following information with anyone who might be interested. It's possible to listen to brand new radio dramas every week (as well as radio serials, readings of books and short stories, and news and interview shows) on BBC Radio online:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/

There is a 45 minute radio play every weekday afternoon and also Friday and Saturday night plays. These, as well as other programs, are all saved on the site for anyone to click on and listen to at anytime within 7 days following original broadcast.

The actors are always excellent. And although the Friday and Saturday night plays are usually sort of experimental, and a bit unsatisfying in my opinion, the afternoon plays offer a wide range of subject matter, including mysteries, comedies, domestic dramas, fantasy, adaptations of literature, and plays based on historical figures and real-life events. (In this latter category, I once heard a play written directly from letters between Vincent Van Gogh, his brother Theo, and Theo's wife. It was a compelling account of Van Gogh's last days, and it was absolutely fascinating to know that 90% of the play was quoted directly from the actual correspondence of these three people.)

Anyway, there's a little something for everyone. Give it a listen sometime! smile.gif

Thanks for sharing -

we'll have to push scientists to slowing the rotation of the earth so that there are more hours in a day... very frustrating to find all these interesting things and never have the time to check them out!
