We are almost up to 50 members here on the forums. Considering that we started in November, we are attracting people at a pretty good rate. I admit that I am a little surprised at how quickly this has grown - and I think it is a lot of fun. smile.gif

When these forums began, everything was set up as I thought it should be. Now that we have some members, it's time to ask for opinions of what you would like to see here on the forums. If you have ideas for changes, etc., please post them here.

Bear in mind that it is my opinion that the forum structure should be kept simple. I think that having just one forum (like a Yahoo! Group) where everything just goes into one discussion forum, is too broad. Likewise, I think it is bad to be spread out too thin. For example, I think that it would be counter-productive to have 10 forums to discuss every facet of the program.

The format we have now; 1 forum to discuss the program, 1 forum to discuss trading and acquiring episodes, and 1 off-topic forum where we can discuss things such as technical aspects of the program (listening and editing software, hardware, etc.) and any other (non-controversial) topics that people want to discuss.

One thing that has not happened here is any discussions about present world events. Some of you folks know that I do operate a very large forum site that has over 2000 members and we have had people start discussions about present world affairs there and it has strained some friendships. So, let's not even get into that here - and I thank you all for not getting any of that started. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen and people feel passionately both ways and since this is a site for fun, we won't even begin to discuss that sort of stuff here. smile.gif

You will also note that I have from time to time moved a thread from one forum to another, and even spilt a topic into two parts. This software has the ability to spin off posts into a new topic. If a thread starts going off-topic, I will just take those posts and make a new topic. Hopefully, that will not be confusing, and also, hopefully no one will get angry if I move a thread from one forum to another if I think it is better suited there.

To the point of this thread now ... if you have suggestions, comments, etc., on how we can make these forums better, feel free to comment. smile.gif

Charlie,
I think you've done a terrific job and though I can't offer any suggestions, I can offer my commendation. Thanks for making this site available to us. vince :D

Don't change a thing. I enjoy this just the way it is.

Charlie, Thanks to you and everyone who has worked to create and maintain this website. It has now become one of my favorites and I visit at least once a day and post as often as I think I have something worthwhile to share. I enjoyed the chance to host a Show of the Week and enjoy getting to interact with other CBSRMT fans. I appreciate the simple and easy to use layout.

This site is truly a gift to all of us who fondly remember this great show and continue to hold it near and dear to our hearts. Thanks for making all this possible.

Charlie,

I think we are all in your debt for offering such a wonderful site! It is intuitive and comprehensive which is the best compliment I can give a website.

However, since you are asking for suggestions I might have a small one. Is there any way to standardize the time/date stamp of the messages in the forums. It appears that the current system might use the users time zone :?: If the message were instead time/date stamped by the server then all messages would have a consistent time/date stamp reference. I'm not sure I'm explaining this well. If you don't understand just let me know.

Thanks again for this wonderful and site and keep up the good work!

Bruce,

In your profile, you can adjust the time settings to operate at whatever time zone you want. It will then show all posts occuring at your local time, or GMT, or whatever time you want.

Forum is OK by me. RMT is rather a narrow subject, and you have done well to keep it interesting!
