Not bike season here yet. All of the lakes are still covered by ice. We are getting up into the 40's now though.

Charlie,
Which day is bike season where you live? ;)

Well, anytime during Summer - that 3rd week of July generally. The ice loosens up enough to cut a hole in it for swimming that week and we go on the snowmobiles in short sleeved shirts.

Charlie,
I wrote my last smart a** comment before looking outside. We received some snow overnight and Interstate 80 between Laramie and Cheyenne was closed for several hours due to snow and ice.

I've been to Wyoming. It goes cold and hot but in Maine it just goes cold. :nonono2:

Better that than Maine.

Ross, check the Show of the Week forum. You have been annointed to choose next week's show if you like.

Good news! It finally warmed up in Maine - to 95 degrees actually. These are pictures of our front yard (or as they say in Maine, the door-yahhd) and the same grill (2nd pic) today. smile.gif

Actually, we are neat people. There is junk/stuff sitting everywhere because construction is going on just behind the photos and everything is on the move.

Charlie,
Great pics. The place looks incredible with a terrific view of the water. We've had a very cool summer so far and though today's high will be in the 70's, the last few days have reached highs in the upper 40's!

Charlie, I envy you.

It looks so quiet and serene. When you grew up in the country (I grew up in heavily forested country) and live in the city. A quiet night is a precious luxury.

We just had a major heat wave, but it broke in time for the PGA Seniors golf tournament to have good weather. Been there twice this week. It's great seeing some of these legends of golf like Nicklaus and Palmer.

What a gorgeous property, Charlie...

I lived in a remote northern community for several years and one of my pleasures was canoeing in the summer with a friend to a little island (there were thousands of them) with a cooler of caribou meat, a few potatoes wrapped in foil, and a bulging wineskin and spending the day infront of a camp fire. The winter we'd zip ahead with the supplies on snowmachine and then come back and ski there.

Now I live in the 'burbs and have a cottage a couple hours drive away. Still a wonderful life, but nothing beats the raw remote pioneering of the north.

cheers
Miles
